Privacy Policy.

For an agency whose product is discretion, this page matters more than most. Here is what we collect, why, and what happens to it.

The policy

Who we are

Private Solutions is a private investigation agency licensed in Ontario under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act (agency licence #30000432), with its head office in Hamilton, Ontario.

What we collect, and why

From clients: contact details, case information you provide, and, where a payment is involved, the records tied to it, collected to scope, conduct and document the engagement you’ve hired us for. We do not store payment details by default; we keep them only when you authorize us to.

In the course of investigations: information about case subjects, gathered only for lawful investigative purposes permitted under PSISA and applicable privacy law, and only within the scope of the client engagement.

From site visitors: as little as possible. This site sets no advertising trackers. Your theme preference (light/dark) is stored locally in your own browser and never transmitted to us. Web server logs record standard technical data (IP address, pages requested) for security and operations.

How we protect it

Case material lives on dedicated, access-controlled storage, never on personal devices, and is handled under chain-of-custody discipline. We hold identity documents and payment details offline and encrypted, apart from our day-to-day systems. Sensitive intake (including our Assign a Case form) is transmitted encrypted. For situations where contacting us is itself a risk, we maintain PGP, Session and Signal channels.

We run monthly security audits of our web-facing services to keep our data-protection standards current.

Retention

We retain client contact information and investigative findings for two years, as required by law. For insurance matters, case data is retained for seven years, again by legal requirement. Everything is destroyed securely once its retention period ends, and consultation details for cases that don’t proceed are not retained.

Disclosure

We disclose case information to you, to counsel you direct us to work with, and where we are legally required to: by court order or as the law otherwise demands. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Ever.

Your rights

Subject to legal limits that apply to investigative records, you may request access to or correction of your personal information under PIPEDA. Direct requests through our contact page.

Changes

If this policy changes, the current version will always live at this address, with material changes noted here.
